What is colon hydrotherapy?

Colon hydrotherapy is a gentle infusion of warm, temperature-regulated, purified water into the colon. There are no chemicals or drugs. Water flows into the rectum, hydrating the colon and encouraging the breakdown and elimination of hard, impacted fecal material, mucoid, parasitic and other waste material that layers the colon wall. This is restorative and cleansing procedure is relaxing and highly effective.

Who should receive colon hydrotherapy?

How is the treatment performed?

The client lies comfortably on a treatment table as the therapist gently inserts a small speculum into the rectum. The therapist monitors the temperature and pressure of the filtered water going into and out of the colon. Waste is eliminated through the disposable waste tube and out the drain line without any assistance from the client. We use a very gentle, slow fill method that works in harmony with your body’s natural rhythm and helps make it a relaxing experience. The Dotolo Research Corporation instrument used in the process is FDA registered. It has a 3-stage filtration system delivering clean, purified, unadulterated water. It is a closed system, therefore all gases and wastes are eliminated through disposable tubing. Respect for the client’s modesty, concerns and emotions are observed throughout the treatment and all matters are strictly confidential.

How soon will I begin to feel a difference?

We are all individuals and how we feel after the treatment is unique to each person. Many clients feel energized and lighter immediately with a subsequent improvement in their bowel movements. Others may take a few sessions before they feel and see the benefits. This is why a course of treatments is recommended to gain the full benefits of colon hydrotherapy.

Why not laxatives?

Laxatives and colon cleansers will not cleanse the entire colon, nor will they dissolve hard, encrusted fecal matter often found in the pockets (haustras) of the colon. Laxatives and colon cleansers can also contribute to dehydration because of the loss of a significant amount of water from the colon. Colon hydrotherapy hydrates, strengthens and promotes natural peristalsis. Peristalsis is the involuntary wave-like successive muscular contractions by which food and waste move along the digestive tract, which are interrupted by laxatives and colon cleansers.

What qualifications do the therapists have?

All of our therapists are certified through the International School for Colon Hydrotherapy.

Are there any risks involved in having the treatment?

Not if this procedure is carried out by a qualified therapist using the correct equipment and upholding the highest of standards, as we do at New England Fitness. Our equipment is not only the world’s finest; it is also registered with the FDA. We also use disposable tubing and hospital grade disinfectant.
